Meet Tony Hampton

Meet Tony Hampton

For seven generations, Tony Hampton’s family has called Scott County home. And he would have it no other way.
A proud graduate of Scott County High School, Tony knew he wanted to serve the community called home and loves. After graduating from the Department of Criminal Justice Training Police Academy in 1995, Tony began working as a law enforcement officer. Following positions with the Georgetown Police Department and as a Deputy Sheriff, Tony served as Chief of Police in Stamping Ground.
In 2010, Tony was elected as Sheriff for Scott County, a position he has been re-elected to three times and serves in today. As Sheriff, he has worked to reduce crime while ensuring the department is engaged with the public and takes a positive role in the community.
In 2021, he was honored by his peers and elected to serve as the President of the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association.
Additionally, Tony has worked for the Kentucky League of Cities as a law enforcement specialist. In that role, he traveled the state working with local police departments to train them on best practices.
Now Tony wants to continue his service to the community he loves in a different aspect. Drawing upon the experience he has earned and the connections he has made, he wants to go to Frankfort and serve as Scott County’s voice in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
